You've heard it before "What got you here, is not going to get you there".
For the vast majority of retail and eCommerce brand owners, what got you where you are right now is an exceptional ability to lend your hand to anything and everything your business demanded of you. You deserve to celebrate that.
But what happens when doing everything leaves you crushingly overwhelmed. Managing a team or staff who stand around doing nothing whilst you still do every tiny task. Or spending the time you could be building and scaling your business doing tasks that could be outsourced to someone else?
Continuing to fill your time as the Master of Everything is not going to help your business to flourish and grow into the future. So what will?
In this episode of Bringing Business To Retail, I'm sharing my top tips to breaking free from the cycle of overwhelm.

Understanding how money flows into, through and out of your business is something that makes many business owners extremely uncomfortable. Fearful even. They think if they ignore the balance sheet and there’s enough to pay the bills at the end of the month, they can breath easy - even if things constantly feel tight.
The reality is a fear of money isn’t going to build a saleable profitable asset, which is what you want your business to be (or become). In this episode of Bringing Business To Retail, we're talking money and focusing on what no one tells you about debt.
Listen in to learn how you can use the financial tools available to you to leverage and grow your business.

What difference would it make to your business if you could add an extra $40K, $50K or even $60K to your turnover this quarter? That's exactly what Tegan Mel, from Soul Quartz has just done.
Before you start thinking she must have worked 3x harder or spend 3x more to 3x her turnover. She didn't. In fact, over the past eight weeks, Tegan's worked less than ever before. No magic tricks, no hustling harder, no thousands of dollars ad spend.
On this weeks episode, Tegan's sharing how she has made phenomenal growth in her brick and mortar and eCommerce store a reality.

I'm excited to be joined by Damon Burton, SEO expert and Director of SEO National, on this week's episode of Bringing Business To Retail.
Busy and pushed for time many retailers fall into the habit of copying product descriptions or content directly from their supplier's websites. Whilst it does the job, it fails to engage both customers and the SEO Gods. What if you could increase the number and quality of the people hitting your website, show up in more searches AND connect with your customers with just a few small changes?
Damon generously shares his advice and tips for;
> creating unique content about products (when everything's already been said 100x)
> understanding how to use tags and meta descriptions
> the top SEO mistakes he sees on e-commerce sites

Getting your product in the hands of a big name influencer is the only way to get noticed on social media.
That's what most business owners believe and so they spend time, money and energy working hard to get their products in the hands of the latest Instagram or TikToks lifestyle face.
But what if I told you, you probably already have the best kind of influencers available, in your network of customers, staff and followers? Influencers who not only know your product but have an affinity to your brand and are able to authentically and genuinely market your store or products to their networks.
I'm joined on Bringing Business To Retail this week by Neal Schaffer, digital marketer and author of the book "The Age Of Influence". Together we discuss the power of micro and nano influencers and the tools you can roll out in your business to capture those people and use them to enhance your marketing.

When Stephanie opened her store in 2016 she told her husband it would take at least five years to be profitable. After two years she realised working 80+ hours a week in her "retirement job" and barely making ends meet was NOT what she wanted from her business.
Fast forward 18 months and both she and her store are hardly recognisable.
I hear so many retailers say they don't believe the "freedom business" hype. They don't believe they can grow their business or become profitable. They don't believe there's a way to change that doesn't require them to work harder or hustle more.
I asked Stephanie to join me and share the biggest breakthroughs in her business. To prove it CAN be done!
Stephanie shares how she took her store from struggling to highly profitable (even with a natural disaster, her husbands open heart surgery AND a pandemic to slow her down). What she now considers her role in the business. And how she has achieved being included in Shopify's top 1% of store owners (with a brand new and pretty average online store).
If it feels like you'll never own the store you dreamed of or that you're destined to be overworked and underpaid for ever; this episode will empower you to see that with the right knowledge and commitment it CAN be done.

If you're like everyone else, 2020 will have felt like the longest year ever. Until I tell you the holiday season is a mere THREE months away. And then suddenly it feels like time has flown.
Even if gift giving and festive season promotions are the last thing on your mind right now, customers are desperate to feel joy. And giving thoughtful, unique gifts is one of the most powerful ways you can do that.
Now more than ever savvy retailers need to embrace their points of difference and work to promote the solutions they have for their customers in the lead up to what might just be the most unusual holiday period ever.
In this episode of Bringing Business To Retail I'm sharing FIVE easy steps to developing a Christmas marketing strategy that will help you stand out from the crowd.

Most Independent Business owners I meet start their store for one of two reasons; to escape the 9-5 corporate grind and spend more time with their families or doing other things they love. Or to provide the opportunity to use their talents for their own gain or to give back to others. To me both of those things represent "freedom".
Thing is, before long people realise being a business owner holds more responsibility and requires more than just showing up to work each day. Before you know it those endless lists of tasks start eating into that freedom you left a well paying job or time with your kids to achieve. And in walks GUILT. Boots and all.
In this episode of Bringing Business To Retail I want to share how guilt played out in my business and share some ways you can tackle your own feelings so you can get back on track to achieving the freedom you were searching for when you first started out.

Most retail and ecommerce store owners believe their customers know best when it comes to selecting stock. So when it comes time to order new stock or curate their range that's where they turn for advice.
Whilst you might get a whole lot of commenters and a bucket load of advice, it doesn't usually translate into sales. And all that idle stock is costing you BIG money.
In this episode of Bringing Business To Retail I'm sharing how you can curate a range, that doesn't involve reaching out to your customers for their advice but has people lining up to buy.

There's nothing more annoying than hitting a great website, only to be bombarded with pop-ups, free-shipping and mailing list sign-up forms. All before you've even had a chance to find out if they're the right store for you.
But does that mean you should forgo pop-ups on YOUR website?
On this weeks episode I'm sharing why pop-ups are a powerful tool (when used properly) and four that are guaranteed to increase conversions on your site (without pissing people off).

When most retail & ecommerce store owners want to make more money, they focus all their efforts on selling.
They post 4 times a day on Instagram, make Tik Tok videos, spend hours tweaking their website, then they start running ads on Facebook.
Whilst they might get a small increase in orders their profit needle never seems to move. And still they believe more offers = more sales.
If you're not seeing the sales you want, and you’re are doing a lot of what I just described then I can't wait to share this episode of Bringing Business To Retail with you; Why Posting On Social Media Isn't Going To Make You More Money.

If you've been around a while you'll know I talk a lot about providing your customers with relevant, targeted email marketing to help improve their customer experience. Part of producing that content involves segmenting or breaking your contact list up so you can send the right information to the right people at the right time.
Many retailers struggle to know exactly what segments to break their lists into and what information to collect from their customers. So in this episode I'm sharing how my team and I recently segmented our own email list; our motivation for doing it, what segments we decided on and why the process didn't go perfectly.

Over the past few months online delivery has surged, with an estimated 300% growth. In many sectors this has lead to massive supply issues. Whilst at the same time, many other retail segments that were locked down with a great deal of inventory stuck in stores are now dealing with a major oversupply.
As we speak billions of dollars of stock are being liquidated or moved to short-term warehouse space to free up room for new shipments or new season stock. Far from being a problem for just the big retailers, over supply is a very real threat to retailers of every size.
In this episode I'm sharing the pros and cons on the most popular strategies for moving stock in your retail or eCommerce store so you can get clear on the options you have for your inventory and the inventory flowing into the market place from other retailers.
